Luxury vinyl flooring in Bridgeport, CT from Absolute Floor Designs

Luxury vinyl flooring imitates natural materials

And it does so beautifully with images of wood, stone, and ceramic tile that are so realistic even the flooring experts sometimes have trouble telling it from the real thing. However, you'll know because you won't pay nearly the same price as you would for genuine materials. Read along to learn more about luxury vinyl flooring (LVF).

Wood-look in your bathroom

Bathrooms are known as the wettest room in the house. So, luxury vinyl flooring is a terrific wood look solution. It is available in various colors, textures, and finishes. It can be cut into long boards to simulate hardwood floorboards, called vinyl plank flooring.

Stone looks

If you prefer a stone or tile look, the material is cut into square, tile-sized sections that can be used with or without grout, called LVT flooring. Many tell us that the "joints" add even more to the realism, while others use plank for stone looks because of the large format and fewer seams.

Luxury vinyl flooring is highly durable

Highly durable, luxury vinyl flooring measures 8-mm to 12-mm in thickness and is layered with a top clear melamine coating that protects the floor from scratches and scuffs. In addition, the floors are low maintenance, needing only a regular (daily, if possible) sweeping and periodic mopping with a manufacturer-approved cleaner.

Installation, too, is fast and uncomplicated, especially when the floors float over the subfloor without nails or glue. Subfloors need only to be clean, dry, and level.

Waterproof vinyl flooring: Even more advanced than LVF

While LVF is five times thicker than the original product, waterproof vinyl flooring is even wider, more durable, and engineered with the technologically advanced WPC (wood plastic composite or SPC (stone plastic composite) cores. As a result, these floors offer the highest level of moisture protection, and they won't peel or ripple no matter how much water there is or for how long.

Different cores

The only difference between the two cores is the feeling underfoot. WPC has a warmer, more resilient feel, while SPC is firm and more rigid, much like a hard surface like hardwood.
