Top 5 reasons for a New Carpet

At some time or another you will want to replace your carpet; even the nicest, most durable carpets eventually need replacing. Obviously, once you start seeing more and more stains, pile matting, or even a bad smell that won’t go away will give you the final push you need for carpet replacement. As a carpet store in the business for over 20 years, we’ve replaced A LOT of old flooring with carpet. Here are five good reasons to replace your flooring:

Your carpet is worn out:

The general rule for residential carpet wear today is between 5 and 15 years. There are a few factors that go into that rule such as the quality of the carpet chosen, the type of padding, and what area of the home it is installed. Hallways and entryways, along with stairs, tend to have the most foot traffic and seem to wear out the quickest.

You continue to move furniture to cover imperfections/stains:

Ok, I think we have all been guilty of this at some time or another. The important thing to remember is to treat the stain when it happens! The longer the stain sits the more it has a chance to seep into the carpet fibers and the padding, making it nearly impossible to get rid of.

Smell of pet stains or mold and mildew:

Oh, that smell! Was there a water leak in your basement that affected the carpet or did your pet have accidents on the carpet? If these issues aren’t dealt with immediately, those smells may never go away. Not only is the smell unpleasant, but mold and mildew issues can affect your health. You can try professional cleaning but that doesn’t always solve the problem, especially if the stain has seeped through to the padding.

Carpet is matting in certain locations:

Carpet matting can happen for a few reasons: heavy furniture and high traffic. There are some instances where these issues can be fixed with professional cleaning but a lot of the time the furniture imprint and the matting in high traffic areas is permanent.

Dislike of the color/pattern/style:

Over time, certain colors or styles are no longer trending or “in style” and can make your home look out of date. You may move into a home with a dated carpet or carpet that doesn’t reflect your decorating style and just changing out the carpets is one of the ways to create your own look in your new home.

Whatever your reason is for replacement, you can always count on us to provide you with a wide variety of colors, patterns and styles of carpet that will complement your home! We hope to see you soon.
